GEAR trust has graduated to giving approx. 250-300 scholarships annually. In its operations since the first allocation in 2001, GEAR has disbursed over 12.5 million Rupees. It has given over 4500 scholarships in its tenure.  Funds are also disbursed from Zakat and Emergency funds for victims of man-made disasters and natural calamities.

CRITERION OF SCHOLARSHIP

The trust has a primary target to uplift poor and meritorious girls by following a formatted/structured approach to maintain quality. The schools are first audited, and verified by the Executive Council. All individual scholarship applications are reviewed by the Governing Body for final approval and allotment.

• Merit –Academic (Latest results) and Moral back-ground
• Means – Average Monthly Income. and Social background
•  Area Executive Council Member pays the fees, etc. directly to the school authorities as well as arrange / purchase the books for the candidate, often from GEAR book bank. In selected cases, the  Candidates are also provided with the uniforms 

DISBURSAL OF EMERGENCY AND "ALMS" FUNDS

GEAR sources and distributes the emergency funds to the needy of the community through the ECMs, in case of natural calamities, riots, etc. GEAR collects project specific funds for these calamities. These are accounted separately.

In addition funds are also collected for the poor and needy. “Alms” are also utilized for the support of education of poor or Orphan students who  do not qualify for the lack of “Merit”
